A few days ago, to my surprise, I opened Instagram and saw my favorite beauty guru, Eva Chen was the newest editor of Lucky Magazine! Yes, I have taken a (reluctant) fashion hiatus to focus on figuring out my career, but sheesh had it really been that long? I guess it had.
I decided to go against my vow to not spend any extraneous money and headed to the nearest Walgreens to snatch up a copy. Boy, am I glad I did!
The wonderful, Eva Chen has done it folks. The publication is definitely in tune with the the millenial generation: artfully curated fashion and beauty articles from a perspective that promotes individuality, clean and simplistic layout with captivating imagery and concise writing and generally a more youthful, updated vibe. Best of all: it’s led by a vision that gives the entire publication the feeling of a hip, street-style blog turned into a publication. I think it’s safe to say Eva is hitting her stride in role as Editor-in-Chief. Another heads up: check out the masthead when you get a second. With a team of heavy hitters such as Alexis Bryan Morgan, Jean Godfrey June and artistic direction by none other than Anna Wintour the new and improved Lucky Magazine is on the up and up.
Maybe what the publication industry has been in dire need of is a digital maven like Eva Chen to breath new life into magazines that just don’t click with our generation. Chen seems to really connect with readers and integrate digital into the publication as much as possible (editors and contributors have their twitter accounts in bylines!) whilst still remaining true to what a traditional fashion publication looks like.
If nothing else, Eva, you got one new Lucky subscriber out of this fashionista! And yes, just in case you were wondering, the infamous Lucky stickers are still around to tag all of your latest must-haves!

Florence Welch definitely takes the cake in head-to-toe emerald Givenchy, with Rihanna in Azzedine Alaia at a close second (she should’ve rethought that hairstyle)!
Earlier this month Pantone announced Emerald as the official color of 2013. I gravitate towards this luxurious and regal hue because of one of my fondest childhood memories: watching Diana Ross’ eyes light up as she entered into the emerald city in the esteemed musical The Wiz.

Bright green in color.
If memory serves me correctly, it was just a few seasons ago that we were trending over jewel tones, emerald obviously included. Instead of pairing emerald with ruby or amber hues, let the vibrant color stand alone.
S Style Advice: Compliment bold emerald baubles with blacks, greys, golds. Also, don’t be afraid of emerald make-up and nail polish. Emerald oozes luxury and splendor, so make sure when you wear it that your style is completely and utterly indulgent.
